A Bit of Everything ~

So, our trip to beautiful Oman took three days, and it's the second day that was the most event-ful! you can read about the first day here :D as this post is about day number two!

SO! a new day in a wonderful place, the night before was peaceful as i slept with my middle brother - who thankfully doesn't twist and turn in bed - however, we were woken up by our parents at 7:30, for we wanted to have breakfast before exploring the city of Muscat.
And that's when we met at the reception desk, then ate at the hotel's restaurant which was next to the pool, and further ahead the sea.. the view was amazing, and the food just made everything amazing-er!
The restaurant was called Tropicana, and its buffet was filled with delicious food! - it actually has been a bit of a long time for us since we ate at a buffet like that, so you can just imagine how are plates looked like...................... yup, *covers face*

my first plate............

Anyway! enough about breakfast!! because what happened later was also worth telling! *getting excited allover again AAH*

Thankfully, since we didn't know much about the city, the hotel itself provided a shuttle that took us on a small tour around the landmarks of the city, and so first, we went to Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which was breathtaking! it was huge and beautiful - despite the fact that i've been to Sheikh Zayed's Grand Mosque here quite a few times, Sultan Qaboos' Mosque was insignificantly different.. Its outside was calm and neat, and the inside was beautifully designed, colourful yet very welcoming.
a fun fact, is that this mosque has the world's second largest hand-woven carpet and chandelier!
ok, back to the story :D we went inside and spent about a couple of hours, waling around, taking pictures and reading Quraan..

Later on, we went to Souq Muttrah, which is an old marketplace filled with goodies.. from clothes, to souvenirs, and traditional food.. it was also very dark, but thankfully not so crowded inside. It also took me back to Al Hamidiyah Souq back in Syria, however, this one was slightly less like home..

after buying a few souvenirs, we decided to have lunch in a near-by restaurant.. Unfortunately, there weren't many places to eat at, well except for two restaurants facing the street.
we weren't so sure about the quality of the food there and all, but well! we decided to take our chances and experience something new :P haha!
However, the food turned out to be not-so-bad! and we kind of were too tired and hungry to complain anyway..

later on, we went to Muttrah Mall where we did some shopping bla bla bla, and FINALLY! we were back at the hotel - we were so tired all we wanted was to lay down on our beds/ bunks and watch TV! but later on the evening, my brothers went back to swimming, and surprise surprise, i went to the beach *O*
there was this small 'cave' nearby which i wanted to 'climb' to since the day before, and i finally was able to do so! it was so sandy and the rocks were a bit sharp, and i instantly regretted not wearing my shoes while climbing, but anyway, my feet weren't as bruised as my younger brother's.. poor kid had a scrap on the back of his foot he couldn't walk very well at first :(

and again, here are some pics of the beeaaach!

look at me being all artsy and romantic :P

inside the 'cave' *O* :D

and with that the day sadly, ended..

The following days were a bit boring though, some more time at the beach and the hotel, and then coming back to AD..

it was a great experience though! and a great escape of the very busy life we've been crammed into! :D Hopefully we travel some other place soon, for i most definitely wouldn't mind a new adventure!

until the next post! :D stay safe x

Unfortunately, spring break was over two weeks ago, and schoolwork has been giving me headaches ever since :( HOWEVER, this spring break was so well spent, and i'm so proud of myself for accomplishing loads in it!
and the biggest highlight of it would be our family trip to Omaaannnnn!!!

It all started with the thought of la familia not spending some 'quality time' together, mostly because of school and dad's job... etc. We even left for the airport a day after dad's arrival from his business trip in France! (And poor him :( he was so tired!)
Anyway! we left for the airport at about 7 am, and my brothers and i were so pumped up since this was a very different kind of adventure for us, and we haven't traveled anywhere in a bit of a long time.. So we packed our handbags, got dressed, and headed to the airport where we had breakfast and waited a bit for our flight to be announced. And i don't know if it's just my parents, who like to head to the airport at LEAST two hours earlier (so yes, you can imagine us in the airport killing time on the airport's free wifi - thank God for that :P)

then FINALLY, our flight has been called out and we were on our way to the beautiful city of Muscat!

the flight was very short since Oman was so close to UAE (despite the not-so-far-away distance, Dad isn't very familiar with traveling by car, so we had to go by plane :$), and they kept on showing this short film about some Californian desert which i have no idea what has to do with our flight, but anyway, i found those 50 minutes a great deal of time for reading and listening to music :D

and well, 50 minutes, 100 or so pages, and 589648329734 songs later, we finally landed!! and honestly, all i could say, was WOW! The buildings; all short and fort-like shaped.. The streetlamps; old fashioned and beautiful.. The nature; so green and beautiful.. The sea; breathtaking.. and the people we've encountered were so nice and helpful!

i don't own these pictures because i couldn't really take proper pictures
from the taxi we were in :(

And even though i was used to the sea here in Abu Dhabi, something about the sea there took my breath away, and i spent so much time on the beach, clearing my mind off things, reading, and walking by the shoreline.

The hotel we stayed in - Crowne Plaza, was a different matter! It was so splendid and grand, with a beautiful view, and my brothers and i got to stay in our own room (which surprisingly, we didn't mess much.......... honestly :P) and here are some pictures..

saw this at the main entrance, and thought it was super smart and cool!

the rest of the day was a relaxed day.. we had lunch at the hotel's restaurant (which wasn't veeeeeeeeeeeeeery pleasing :$ hehe) and my brothers went swimming later on, and surprise surprise, i went to za beach!

hehe i collected so many cute little shells =3
might as well turn them into something useful ;)

and with that, the first day ended.. restful and well spent with the fam :D

until the next post!! take care!
Live, Laugh, Love, and keep smiling ;) xx
